Grooming at Poughkeepsie Animal Wellness

Grooming in a veterinary setting

Grooming at a veterinary practice is different from a standalone grooming salon. Our groomers work alongside our veterinary team, which means any health concerns identified during grooming — skin conditions, ear infections, lumps, or dental disease — can be addressed immediately by a veterinarian.

Grooming services

We offer full-service grooming for dogs and cats, with services tailored to your pet's breed, coat type, and individual needs.

  • Full bath with professional shampoo and conditioner
  • Blow-dry and brush-out
  • Breed-specific haircut and styling
  • Nail trim and grinding
  • Ear cleaning and hair removal
  • Anal gland expression
  • Teeth brushing (add-on)
  • De-shedding treatments

Medical grooming

Pets with skin conditions, allergies, or other medical needs benefit from grooming in a veterinary setting where medicated shampoos can be prescribed and applied under veterinary supervision.

Pets with anxiety, aggression, or medical conditions that make grooming difficult can be seen by our veterinary team for a pre-grooming consultation and anxiety management plan.

  • Medicated shampoo treatments (antifungal, antibacterial, antiseborrheic)
  • Chlorhexidine and benzoyl peroxide baths
  • Coat clipping for wound care or skin condition management
  • Matted coat removal with veterinary assessment

Scheduling and preparation

Grooming appointments are available Tuesday through Saturday. We recommend scheduling 2–4 weeks in advance for regular appointments. First-time grooming clients should arrive 10 minutes early to complete intake paperwork.

  • Appointments available Tue–Sat
  • All pets must be current on rabies and Bordetella vaccines
  • Please arrive with a leash or carrier
  • Notify us of any behavioral concerns at booking
